Some may have noticed (who am I kidding, I strongly doubt that more than one person comes to my site) that the Montaigne essays disappeared for a couple days and have now returned. While I am in process of line editing the pieces, the tools I’m using work better if the text is in published mode. So, at least for the short term, they are accessible again in the big wide world of the internet.
This raises a point that’s important to me and I hope readers (reader?) pay attention–I realize that this project may soon be reaching out to a different level of readership. I also have absolutely no desire to point at anyone other than me through the words of this project.
If there is anything in my text that anyone in my life recognizes and makes them feel uncomfortable, please find a way to point it out to me before it reaches the point of publication. Just be advised that the more opaque you are about your concern, the greater risk there is that I won’t alter it as you would like. I have signaled my desire to not expose anyone to unwanted public speculation or gossip. You have to meet me halfway to ensure the text fulfills that desire.
My line editing process has so far taken me through essay 64, meaning that there should be nothing in those essays that should concern anyone. You are free to read them and point out what you consider potentially troubling, or you could point out text in essays I’ve yet to line edit.
Just be aware that I have no intention of making this project about anyone but Michel de Montaigne and me.
